Just a lazy Sunday morning...

I'm pretty sure that if I wasn't the favourite child before, I most definitely am now, now that I am preggers... Not ashamed to admit it and not ashamed to milk it! Haha. I have to claim it while it is there because when my brothers start having babies, or even my little bro gets married, I'll be old news.

Anyway, this weekend Tim has been away so last night I thought I would go hang with my folks, and since I was going to be there, might as well stay the night. Yip, favourite child got a nice wee desert made just for her -  was nice enough to share it with them though :)

I played my hockey final yesterday and unfortunately we lost, but the other team really deserved to win, I must say. Then after that, and having some shots of water with my team mates who were having shots of who-knows-what, and my ginormous plate of the world's best wedges, I headed out to my parent's for the Masterchef final... I know, don't be jealous of just how exciting my life is!

And this morning, this is what I got to wake up to...

Beautiful!
My parents live next to an airport so I got up and walked around it before going to church this morning. I loved it. This is where I grew up so always love being back there and going through my old running tracks. I was planning on running this morning but was just a tad score after the big finale yesterday so a nice cruisy walk it was.

Which brings me to the next part... Running with a bubba... It's not quite as easy as running senza bubba! Who would have thought?!? So I have ordered myself a belly support belt and when it arrives I will have a little run to see if it helps relieve some of the weight pull. Will let you know how that goes.

So how was your Sunday?? Was it a lazy one?

Do you love going back to where you grew up?

Who's the favourite child in your family?

Go Rachel, it's ya birthday, gonna workout like it's yo birthday!!

That's right, it's my birthday today... So much fun. I love birthdays - mine and others - always have and always will and it's even more exciting now that there will be a baby to celebrate with soon!

So my birthday workout consisted of....

An at home weights workout, courtesy of womans health magazine and their awesome 20 minute at home workouts. I used my 5kg hand weights for these and mostly focussed on arms and legs, with a little bit of back and abs in there too.

After that I was all geared up to get out and go for a run...

I know, I'm totally working that running pose... Practiced for hours!

... Until hubby got home, at which time I thought it would be nice to go together. However, this just ended up being a brisk walk as I am still trying to teach Tim how to, and encourage him that yes you can, love running! This did not happen today but we had a lovely walk on a sunny spring evening instead.

Then, to top off the day, Tim took me out for a surprise dinner. I thought we were just going to eat at home since we are having a celebratory dinner with friends and some fam on Fri night instead, so this was a treat. Naturally, being the birthday girl and all, I got to pick so chose our favourite Israeli restaurant to go to.

My delicious dinner with falafels... Sooo good!
This place has the best food with delicious salads and the falafel are to die for! And to top it off, since it's my birthday and all, we shared a dessert... Classic baklava with ice cream... Yummo!

To sum it up, I have had a great day, thanks mostly in part to my wonderful husband who started my day with this funky tune that you just MUST listen to!  Then, at school, I had 4 classes of students sing happy birthday to me which, despite the colour of my face at the time, made me feel very special. Feeling the love all round, that's fo sho!

How do you like to celebrate your birthday? Do you have family traditions?

Do you workout on your birthday or use this as an excuse to have a 'rest day'?

A whole new dimension...

Hiiiiiiiiii!!!!

I know, I had kinda fallen off the blog wagon there for a while, sorry to all you people who just love reading my blog - my husband and my Mum, mostly!

But here's the reason (well more like the excuse), and yes, trust me, it is a good one!

Curious Runner Girl is now Pregnant Runner Girl!!!

That's right, you heard correctly, I'm up the duff, knocked up, preggers, with child, in the family way, or whatever else you want to call it. That and the fact that I have started a new, full time job, we've been doing work on our house, and I've been trying to have a social life!

Have to be honest, it was quite the surprise for my husband and I but we are so totally over the moon and know that it's God's timing - which is not always the same as ours, but it's always the best!

I am 17 weeks now and feeling a lot better than I had been in some of the earlier weeks. Have to say though, I have been rather lucky actually, not having any morning sickness, just a bit of nausea which was usually fixed by eating - not complaining about that!

We are both totally loving this new adventure and our wee little blessing, we're learning so much and it's all so very exciting.

'So what does this mean for my running???' I hear you ask? Well, let's get over to that side of this whole thing...

Running...

Funnily enough, with all the tiredness and nausea early on, this was the last thing I felt like doing so I actually haven't been running at all that much. I have done the occasional run but nothing over 10km. I have, however, been loving doing weight workouts, spin classes at the gym and going for long walks and hikes. With the occasional run thrown in there. All so good! I have also still been playing hockey but I'm definitely feeling the baby in there while I am playing, so taking it easier. Thankfully we have our last game this weekend, the Grand Final, so I will be able to finish the season.

So hot right now in my hockey uniform!
I know, don't get me started on our retro curtains and nasty carpet - we are currently undergoing home renos... Fun!

I am not going to do the Auckland marathon that I had registered for, which you would have read about in this post here, as I just don't think I could handle it being about 25 weeks pregnant and not really a seasoned marathoner with child in belly. I will hopefully try to do some smaller races. Was considering maybe a half marathon, but we'll see...

Have also been enjoying yummo meals like this one full of fresh salady veges now that it is spring and getting a but warmer... Yay!

Yummalicious chicken salad... Drool!
So that's my latest news, I will update you with all the juicy goss of the pregnancy... Jokes, I know you don't really want to be reading ALL about that. But what I will do is start posting all about exercising while pregnant, workouts, and other such stuff fo ladies with yo babies (and without - this isn't an exclusive blog you know!).
